I can imagine the living-room curtains only in white, with patterns in black, possibly Art Nouveau style. I wonder if I could afford ordering such curtains from some international website. Would I be able to stamp some patterns myself?

you should be able to get something from ikea, it's very affordable.
the next best thing is either crate and barrel or cb2.
